How to get the cost price of a product?
Current State
This is expected to be addressed under catalog related endpoints. However, getting the cost price of a product, for the time being, may not be ideal for retailers.
The current version of the catalog endpoints make only the suggested retail price (SRP) of a product available in their responses, not the cost price directly. The cost price is included in the details of the order related endpoints for now along with many other detailed pricing information for the specified product. These are listed below.
This means that, for a retailer to get the cost price of a product, the most convenient way currently is to create a reservation for the product.
For an entire catalog of products, this is hardly feasible. Consequently, cost prices are best shared in between business actors of the vaults involved.
Future Work
The scope of this requirement and the shortcomings of the current state of the API is well studied. It is to be addressed with the v4 of the order endpoints and related upgrades to the catalog related endpoints. Getting the cost price for a product is to be added to API features.
